Learning Therapy – The Possibilities

What is learning therapy good for? Many children suffer from school related traumas. Through different experiences during teaching and learning processes, small or even smallest uncertainties at school can lead to stress, pressure and fear of failure. This traumatic experiences may block and confuse the child and thus trigger learning disabilities or anxieties. The joy of learning is lost. Our work is based on respect and trust. We allow pupils to discover and experience self-determination. The children should have experiences of their own accord and find pleasure in their own discovery. We only lend our assistance for this process. The young person worked his way himself / herself and thereby obtains confidence, self-confidence and self-belive. We work with a child, an adolescent, a parent or a family as long as necessary and as short as possible. Our work begins with an initial meeting, to give each child or young person the possiblity to get to know us and then freely decide whether he / she wants to work with us or not. Our work is adapted to the individual needs of the child or adolescent.

Our Philosophy

Many children have the wonderful talent to let wander the center of their experience in space and time. Center of experience means the own attention in that sense. This capability enables creativity, ingenuity, initiative thinking and a keen imagination. Many children are also visual thinkers and interpret conversations, phrases and words in images rather than letters or words. If these two talents or abilities, however, are combined with a low threshold of confusion, problems may arise for the child. If the child’s attention, the center of experience, is to be directed towards a specific activity confusion, stress, concentration problems, reading and spelling problems, computing problems may arise due to this. In the long run these may maifest as LRS, dyscalculia, ADD or ADHD. These can be accompanied by school anxieties or phobias too. But above all, the child develops frustration about why it is and can not as it would like to or as others can. A vicious circle is created. The child is not yet able to direct the center of experience by itself and thus has not yet learned to control the own perception. Here our work begins in the lerning therapy.

The Team

The learning therapy itself is carried out by professional, trained therapists. Within seminars, our tutors also acquire first foundations in dealing with learning and concentration problems or subject and school-related anxieties. By applying the knowledge acquired, we want to build bridges between the specific learning therapy and general tutoring in the long run and make an integrative support possible. We offer programs for the treatment of dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADD and ADHD, as well as subject and school related anxieties and phobias. Complementary and accompanying family counseling beyond the ordinary level of consultation also are possible.
